When your Client seeks a seamless integration of a full second story addition to their traditional Mediterranean home, how do you select color?

 

We determined softer color contrasts would help the building appear graceful, yet contemporary on its site.

 

We agreed upon a medium value terra cotta rooftile hue that worked well with the existing hardscape. The two grey tones used on the trims and windows took cues from the ground plane while the soft white body allowed the scale of the new story to sit quietly in the context of the neighborhood.
